Park City is unarguably one of the best places to ski in the world. It didn't earn a reputation for having the "Greatest Snow on Earth" by being a mediocre winter destination. On the sleek white slopes above Park City, skiers and snowboarders can navigate every type of terrain and difficulty while marveling at the powdery perfection of the snow beneath their feet. For veterans, Park City is a dream come true, and for beginners, a perfect place to learn how to ski or snowboard.

Destination

Park City was once home to the world's richest silver mines. During World War I and the Great Depression, silver was still in high demand; gradually, however, the industry began to suffer, and Park City's tenacious community of miners quickly adapted to the times and proposed the construction of a major ski resort in their little industrial mountain town. The travel conglomerate Utahns Inc. jumped on board, and by 1970 Park City was drawing almost seven hundred thousand tourists per year. Today, that number has jumped to four million, and this cozy yet bustling resort town is known for its affluence, liveliness, and having the "Greatest Snow on Earth".

Located thirty-two miles south of downtown Salt Lake City, Park City is almost completely surrounded by mountains. It served as the site for skiing events in the 2002 Winter Olympics, and is home to the United States Ski Team. Since 1981, Park City annually hosts the Sundance Film Festival, the largest and most prestigious independent film festival in the United States. In 2008, it was named among the top twenty most scenic towns in America by Forbes Travelers Magazine.
