The Rules:
- Premier Silver, Gold and Platinum Bluegreen owners may elect to use Points toward the payment of their Maintenance Fee and Club Dues instead of money (cash, check, credit card).
- May use only Annual or Borrowed Points.
- Saved, Bonus, or AIM Points are not eligible for this benefit.
- Points can only be used to pay Maintenance Fees and Club Dues when they are billed.
- Points cannot be used to pre-pay Maintenance Fees.
- Rates are subject to change at any time and without notice.
My Take:
While it might help in a pinch, using Bluegreen points to pay your maintenance fees regularly does not make financial sense. If you look at the table below, for Silver and Gold Premier Bluegreen Owners using 140,000 points to pay $1,400.00 in maintenance fees comes in at a penny per point. For Platinum Premier members it is 70,000 points, which equates to $0.02 cents per point.
My maintenance fees ran close to 8.5 cents per point last year. 140,000 points times $0.085 equals $11,900.00. A Gold Premier Bluegreen owner would pay $11,900, and a Platinum Premier Member would pay $5,950, out of pocket to get $1,400.00 back towards the maintenance fees for next year.
Why would you buy something for 8.5 cents and sell it for 1 or 2 cents? Effectively, that is what you are doing when you redeem your points to pay your maintenance fees.
The best value of your Bluegreen points is always to use them to book a reservation during the use year, the next best would be saving them for the following year.

How Much are Bluegreen's Maintenance Fees?
The amount of your Bluegreen Maintenance Fees depends upon which trust fund your contract falls into. When they are due is based upon the Sales Type.
How to Calculate Your Bluegreen Maintenance Fees
If you are in Trust Fund Budget E (Sales Types A, U, Y, and Z):
- Annual ownerships are billed at a flat rate of $373 per ownership, plus $0.0845 per Point ($0.07970 Maintenance Fee + $0.0048 Real Estate Tax).
- Biennial (every other year) ownerships are billed at a flat rate of $373 per ownership, plus $0.04225 per Point ($0.03985 Maintenance Fee + $0.00240 Real Estate Tax).
- Biennial ownerships are billed each year, not every other year, and are billed at half of the rate for full maintenance fees.
- The flat fee of $373 will only be applied to one account. This applies to both annual and biennial ownerships.
Say you have 40,000 points annual points. 40,000 times $0.0985 = $3,940.00. Add to that the $373 and the total cost of the club dues and maintenance fees would be $4,313.
If you are in Trust Fund Budget D - Sales Types P and Q:
- Annual ownership's are billed at a rate of $0.1227 per Point ($0.11860 Maintenance Fee + $0.00410 Real Estate Tax).
- Biennial (every other year) ownership's are billed at a rate of $0.06135 per Point ($0.0593 Maintenance Fee + $0.00205 Real Estate Tax).
- Biennial ownership's are billed each year, not every other year, and are billed at half of the rate for full maintenance fees.
Same example, 40,000 annual points. 40,000 times $0.1227 = $4,908
How can you actually use this:

Bluegreen's sales team would like Bluegreen Owners to believe that they can get more money out of their Bluegreen points by converting to Choice Privilege points and then exchanging the points for gift cards, etc.. A simple search of the various Bluegreen Facebook Groups will show quite a few hits where the poster mentions the salesperson or closer showing them (usually very rapidly) how they can get more money back doing the Choice Priveleges points conversion. Let us take a look at the process and see for ourselves
How does the Choice Priveleges points conversion actually work?
- Every Bluegreen owner enrolled in Choice Privileges can convert Bluegreen Vacation Club Points to Choice Privilege points.
- Choice Privileges points never expire as long as you have qualifying activity on your choice account within 18 months.
- Bluegreen can also change the exchange rate at any time.
- Premier owners can get an early conversion bonus if they convert points six months or more prior to their expiration date.
- The conversion bonus depends upon the Premier level of the user and is in addition to the standard conversion rate
- The conversion process must be completed over the phone
- There is a $60 fee per conversion
- The standard conversion rate of 2:1 typically appears within your Choice Privileges account the same day. The bonus conversion rate will be processed adding the additional points to your account within 5 business days.
Conversion Rates | Bronze | Silver | Gold | Platinum | Diamond |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Standard Conversion Rate | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Early Conversion Bonus for Choice Priveleges | x2 | x3 | x4 | x5 | x7.5 |
Total Conversion Rate with Bonus | 4 to 1 | 6 to 1 | 8 to 1 | 10 to 1 | 15 to 1* |

How to Sell Bluegreen Points (Bluegreen Timeshare), or Make Your Offer More Attractable to Potential Buyers
Information that Every Listing Needs to Attract More Potential Buyers:
- Number of Points Annual or Every Other Year (EOY)
- Anniversary date of points (aka Earn date)
- Deeded location (Home Resort) Deeded week, unit and days
- Trust Fund & Sales Type (or maintenance fee due date)
- Maintenance Fee Amount
- Are any Mortgage or Maintenance fees still owed or paid off?
- Number of points remaining for the current year
- Who pays transfer fees (currently $450)
For example: Resort 'x' 10 K points Annual, Trust Fund E Sales Type Y, Unit 807, Week 36
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REASONS PEOPLE SELL THEIR BLUEGREEN TIMESHARE:
- Medical reasons/loss of spouse or travel partner
- Cannot afford the maintenance fees due to a career change or loss of a job (or the increased amount of the fees)
- Purchased more points than they have vacation time to use
- Perceived decline in service and/or benefits
- No longer suits their chosen travel style
- Expectations based upon what a salesperson told them they could do with it versus reality.
PURPOSE:
It is possible to sell some Bluegreen points (deeds). Sales happen all the time.
There may be only a few or even just one person that wants it, but under certain conditions you can sell a Bluegreen timeshare. Getting the best possible price requires some basic knowledge, encouraging a perception of value (where is does exist), and including all of the above information in your listing.
Some Bluegreen timeshares cannot be sold, but all too often people just blankly post that deeds have to be given away. Sometimes it is a seller’s approach that makes it harder. If you are going to transfer your Bluegreen ownership, are you willing to put in the work to at least try to sell it?
Even if you are willing to give away your Bluegreen ownership, and pay all transfer fees yourself, people will want the above information. (Below I will explain why.)
People looking to buy Bluegreen points will find it helpful to understand the other side of the sales transaction. This also covers some details about Bluegreen, and might give you some things to consider in your investigations.
WHAT IS TRUST FUND / SALES TYPE?
- Trust Fund = HOW maintenance fees (MF) are calculated
- Sales Type = WHEN maintenance fees (MF) are due
All buyers REQUIRE this information. If a buyer does not match their existing Trust Fund they risk paying much more in maintenance fees. (Some trust funds have a base fee plus a charge per point; others have no base fee and charge more per point.)
